Embedding high-quality human rights due diligence
We offer expert tools and methodologies and ensure rightsholders are at the centre of decision-making.
Assess
Understanding your human rights risks and impacts
Using our Human Rights Capacity Diagnostic (HRCD) tool, we help our clients understand their progress in implementing human rights and environmental due diligence and identifying the risks and impacts of their operations across their value chain.
With rightsholder engagement at the core of what we do, we work with a network of partners and in-country experts who provide the insights and evidence that are needed to deliver a robust due diligence process and strategy.
Our tool is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and incorporates our 20 years of practical experience in embedding human rights, from the boardroom to the factory and field.
We offer the following services as part of our ‘Assess’ approach:
- Gap assessments and organisational maturity
- Risk assessments
- Data analysis and advice
- Crisis and/or incident support
- Ad hoc and heightened due diligence
- Human rights impact assessments
- Land rights assessments
- Participatory rightsholder engagement
- Living wage/income assessments

Embedding human rights due diligence and responsible procurement practices
With an understanding of the risks and impacts of their operations, we support clients to embed human rights due diligence and responsible procurement and business practices into their own operations and value chains.
In our experience, companies that embed human rights due diligence into their strategy and operations are in a better position to meet the needs of their stakeholders, build resilience in their supply chains and respond to the growing human rights and environmental due diligence legislation.
With our extensive value chain experience, we engage with high-risk value chains to improve performance and impact. Taking steps to effectively mitigate risks through responsible contracting and key metrics to measure effectiveness.
We have 20 years' experience of embedding human rights due diligence in the following areas:
- Enhancing governance and oversight
- Drafting policy and guidance
- Training and building capacity throughout the organisation
- Responsible procurement
- Engaging suppliers and business partners
- Monitoring effectiveness and impact
- Strategic reporting
Transform
Leading change and delivering impact
Having identified risks and impacts and embedded responsible procurement and business practices into their value chains, we then support our clients to lead change and deliver impact. This takes ambition, commitment and investment. To do this we partner with leaders at all levels in a company, from the field and factory to the boardroom. Working alongside them to create the business case, deliver the strategy, secure the resources and the budget that is needed to succeed.
By including rightsholders in our approach we enable those leaders to transform their social and environmental performance and create long-term change.
By engaging rightsholders and working with expert partners our clients are better able to fully address the systemic issues and root causes behind the human rights challenges they face.
Our in-depth approach is based on our 20 years of knowledge in supporting our clients to better navigate their way through complex dilemmas such as working in high-risk countries or managing high-risk value chains.
We have extensive expertise in:
- Designing and improving mitigation and remediation measures
- Facilitating multi-stakeholder / industry collaboration
- Strategic advice and integration
- Cost of production to reflect human rights
- Just Transition strategy and implementation
