"It’s less than a week until I head to Belém for COP30, and my expectations are high.
As a business and human rights consultant, supporting companies on human rights due diligence and just transition strategies, I’m eager to join conversations on how we can make the shift to a low-carbon economy just, inclusive, and respectful of human rights.
I’m looking forward to events that connect corporate climate action, climate finance for both mitigation and adaptation, social impact, and human rights - because these elements must move together for meaningful progress.
I’m also keen to learn more about transition initiatives that can create social value when implemented responsibly, such as nature-based solutions, and to attend events that create safe spaces for human rights defenders to voice their concerns and perspectives.
On a more personal note, coming from Brazil, I’m thrilled to see an event of this scale and importance happening in Belém. Taking place in the Amazon and in the Global South, I hope this COP’s setting sparks the political will for bold commitments on climate justice and accelerates both mitigation and adaptation efforts.
I’m also really looking forward to eating some of the best food in the world (don’t get me started on maniçoba or filhote no tucupi)!
If you know of events or sessions on these topics, please share!
And if you’ll be in Belém from 11–16 November, I’d love to connect - let’s exchange ideas and collaborate."
