CASE STUDY
Accelerating HRDD for a luxury car manufacturer, UK

Overview
With the arrival of electric cars and the transformation of its supply chain, the client was looking to establish a human rights programme, identify priorities and implement robust HRDD processes.
Being a small volume manufacturer, yet trading across many countries and with a valuable brand and loyal customer base, it faces the specific challenges of targeting its efforts given limited leverage in its supply chains.
Our approach
The project centred around a Gap Assessment using our Human Rights Capacity Diagnostic tool to take stock of current policies and practices, create a baseline and identify gaps and areas for improvement.
We held interviews and workshops with key functions to outline current practices and to gain buy-in around findings and recommendations.
Results
The client gained a clear understanding of where they can improve their human rights processes in line with international standards and peer companies. Key functions understood the main actions they need to take in their areas to better understand and address human rights risks.
The client went on to set out its human rights commitment and establish a dedicated governance structure to further embed respect for human rights across the organisation.
It is currently working to train its procurement and partnerships teams on assessing human rights risks and bring coherence in approach across the functions.
