CASE STUDY
Developing a child labour remediation framework

Overview
Child labour remains a complex and systemic issue in many countries and agricultural supply chains.
Our client wanted to develop a child labour remediation framework, centred around the protection of the rights of children, that sets out the operational procedure to respond to child labour risks identified within their supply chains.
Our approach
twentyfifty worked with the client to develop a child labour remediation framework that aligns with the realities of child labour within their supply chain and local context.
The framework outlined actions at three levels:
- corporate level actions for managers to implement and execute
- a case management procedure to identify and respond to individual cases of child labour
- guidelines for developing wider interventions that target the root cause of child labour in a specific region
Results
We delivered the framework and an implementation plan to embed the framework within the client's organisation.
We made recommendations on how to implement the framework, including engaging with their network of local stakeholders to take a collaborative approach to addressing child labour.
This framework will help our client to systematically and consistently respond to child labour in their supply chains.
