Partnering with AIM-Progress to develop the brand new “Grievance Mechanism Maturity Framework & Guidance” has been a great opportunity to support their members in further embedding the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Together we have developed practical guidance for FMCG companies and beyond to accelerate the development and implementation of grievance mechanisms in their own operations and their wider supply chains.  This guidance also aims to support the provision of remedies where issues are found and to prevent future negative impacts through continuous improvement.

Our lead consultant Jenny Wanstall reflected, “It was great to bring our knowledge and experience of grievance mechanisms into this project. The framework can be used in a number of ways, whether as a benchmarking tool, a blueprint for effective grievance mechanisms or to support the development of improvement plans, it is simple to use and easy to navigate.”

A self-assessment tool is also available to AIM-Progress members only, to help them assess their maturity level, evaluate the gaps and identify areas of improvement. This is the first publication of the framework and guidance, and we look forward to working with AIM-Progress and their members as their good practice evolves to inform the next iteration.
